Parenting can be a very rewarding experience to be shared by a mother and father. To keep your marriage running smoothly as well as the lives of your children, a mutually respectful plan of discipline must be reached. One parent may believe in spanking and the other not. One may allow snacks between meals and the other disagrees. Coming to a common ground on parenting issues is important to family harmony. For a toddler who hates having her hair washed, try mimicking a salon visit in Your Own house. Allow her to lay back on the kitchen or bathroom counter with a towel under her neck for support, and wash her hair in the sink. Give her a soothing scalp massage and talk to her in a silly voice to make the experience less scary.
For a fun road-trip treat for your toddler, paint an old cake pan or cookie sheet with chalkboard paint and provide a piece of sidewalk chalk (or regular chalk, if your child is past the age where she might put it in her mouth). You can also glue a picture onto a large magnet and then cut it into several large pieces, making a great puzzle that your child can assemble on the pan.
When you’re trying to get an older toddler or child excited about their car seat, let them help you choose it. You can let your child pick the color, or the pattern, or sometimes even the style of seat. Doing this will help ensure that they want to sit in their “special seat” and can mean less traveling battles.
When your toddler reaches 3 feet tall or can climb out of his or her crib, it is probably time to make the change to a toddler bed. This change can be scary; try to make it as fun as possible, perhaps by purchasing special, new sheets with a favorite character on them.
Allow your toddler to help you around the house as you clean, fold laundry, mix dough, or perform other tasks. Your child loves to mimic your actions and learns while doing so, and you get to spend some quality time together while performing chores that need to be done anyway.
If you are the parent of a toddler, one way to calm your child down when they are throwing a tantrum is to give them the space they need to calm down on their own. This can be done by tossing a blanket over a table or chair, and letting your toddler crawl under to regroup.

A husband and wife should always be respectful of the other’s feelings and communicate their ideas in a loving way that will benefit both parents and children.
